Weight loss drug shows promise in fighting painful kidney stones
NCT ID NCT04621929
Summary
This study tested whether a weight loss medication (phentermine/topiramate) could help control kidney stones in obese people with diabetes or pre-diabetes. Researchers compared the medication against standard treatments over 18 months to see if it reduced stone size by promoting weight loss and making urine less acidic. The goal was to see if this approach could better manage both obesity and recurrent kidney stones together.
