Weighted brace boosts walking after stroke?

NCT ID NCT01952522

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tested whether wearing a daily weighted brace on the unaffected ankle helps people who have had a stroke walk farther. 42 participants who had a stroke more than 3 months ago and could walk a little without help were split into two groups: one wore a weighted brace, the other a placebo brace without weight. The main goal was to see if the weighted brace increased the distance walked in 6 minutes.
