Imagery boost may help VR conquer stage fright in new settings

NCT ID NCT07323498

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a guided imagery exercise after a single virtual reality (VR) speech session helps people with public speaking anxiety feel less fearful in new speaking situations. About 48 adults with high speech anxiety will do one VR speech, then either mentally rehearse the experience or rehearse plus imagine themselves speaking in different settings. One to two weeks later, they give short talks in real life and VR to see if the effects carry over.
