New hope for stroke survivors: visual training may ease swallowing problems

NCT ID NCT07492719

First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding visual biofeedback to standard swallowing exercises and electrical stimulation helps people who have trouble swallowing after a stroke. About 34 adults who had a stroke within the last 6 months will be split into two groups: one gets visual feedback during exercises, the other does standard exercises. Both groups receive electrical stimulation. The goal is to see if the visual feedback group shows greater improvement in swallowing muscle function and thickness after 4 weeks of daily treatment.
