First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at 33 adults with unexplained fluid around the lungs (pleural effusion) who needed a procedure called thoracoscopy. Doctors tested two methods to quickly tell if the fluid was caused by cancer: looking at the tissue with their eyes and using a rapid lab test on a small sample. The goal was to see which method gives faster and more accurate results compared to standard lab testing.
