New camera tech could replace messy dye in colon cancer checks

NCT ID NCT07089771

First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study compares two ways to examine the colon in people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who are at higher risk for colon cancer. One method uses a dye sprayed inside the colon, while the other uses advanced camera technology to enhance images without dye. About 480 adults with IBD will be randomly assigned to one method during their routine colonoscopy. The goal is to see if the dye-free method is just as good at finding pre-cancerous spots.
