VR headsets under scrutiny: new study tests seizure risk in epilepsy patients

NCT ID NCT07451093

First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study aims to find out if using virtual reality headsets raises the risk of seizures in teenagers and adults with epilepsy. Researchers will monitor brain activity with EEG while participants wear a VR headset, first with the display off, then on without hand controllers, and finally on with hand controllers. The goal is to see if the VR experience itself or the hand controllers make a difference in seizure risk.
