Virtual shopping boosts stroke recovery in small trial

NCT ID NCT01365858

First seen May 18, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested whether practicing shopping in a virtual supermarket helps stroke survivors improve their ability to perform daily tasks. 29 adults who had a stroke 1 to 18 months earlier and had thinking difficulties took part. They either received standard rehabilitation or virtual reality training using a simulated supermarket. The goal was to see if the virtual training led to better real-world shopping performance.
