Scientists build virtual brain to decode epilepsy

NCT ID NCT02603640

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested whether a computer model of the brain, called a 'virtual brain,' could help doctors better understand electrical signals from epilepsy patients. Twenty people with epilepsy who were already scheduled for brain surgery took part. The goal was to see if the model could pinpoint the brain regions causing seizures, which could improve surgical planning.
