AI cameras vs. panic buttons: new tech aims to stop elderly falls

NCT ID NCT05875038

Summary

This study is testing whether a new AI-powered video camera system can better protect elderly people from the dangers of falling at home compared to standard emergency call buttons (telealarms). It will involve 395 people aged 75+ who are at high risk of falling and are returning home from the hospital. The goal is to see if the AI system, which automatically detects if someone has fallen, can get help faster and reduce hospital readmissions.
