Ear tubes may improve sleep and life quality in toddlers with glue ear

NCT ID NCT06100159

First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looked at whether placing small tubes in the eardrums (ventilation tubes) helps children aged 1-4 with chronic ear fluid (glue ear) sleep better and improves their quality of life. Sixty children were randomly assigned to get tubes or not. Their sleep was tracked with a wrist monitor for a week, and parents filled out quality-of-life questionnaires. The goal was to see if the tubes made a real difference in sleep and daily well-being.
