Heart surgery brain risk: could vein backup be the culprit?
NCT ID NCT07285187
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a backup of blood in the veins during heart surgery is linked to confusion (delirium) after the operation. Researchers will monitor 120 adults having planned heart surgery, checking for vein congestion during the procedure and testing for delirium daily for a week. The goal is to understand this possible connection, not to test a new treatment.
