New heart catheter aims to tame stubborn AFib in major trial

Summary
This study tests a new device called the VARIPULSE catheter system for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat that lasts more than a week). The procedure uses heat energy to isolate certain veins in the heart to restore normal rhythm. About 920 participants will be enrolled to see if the device is safe and works well over time.
