Scientists hunt clues to prevent sudden death in epilepsy

NCT ID NCT04134754

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people with epilepsy die suddenly (SUDEP). Researchers will monitor adults with epilepsy during hospital stays to see how seizures affect breathing, heart rate, and the ability to wake up. Participants will be followed for 10 years to learn if problems sensing carbon dioxide after seizures contribute to SUDEP risk.
