Summary
This study followed 53 ICU patients who had a serious abdominal infection to understand why many become weak, frail, and disabled long after leaving the hospital. Researchers measured changes in frailty, muscle loss, and overall health at 3, 6, and 12 months. The goal was to define the natural course of these problems, not to test a new treatment.
