Doctors test quick ultrasound to protect kids from unnecessary radiation

NCT ID NCT05910567

Summary

This study is testing whether a quick bedside ultrasound, called a FAST exam, can help doctors decide which injured children really need a CT scan. It involves nearly 3,200 stable children who have suffered blunt trauma to the abdomen. The goal is to see if using the ultrasound first can safely reduce the number of CT scans, which expose children to radiation, without missing serious injuries.
