First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at whether pressing on the esophagus with ultrasound guidance during mask ventilation can prevent stomach distension in adults having laparoscopic surgery. 103 patients were split into two groups: one received the compression, the other did not. The goal was to see if this simple technique reduces stomach bloating, which can complicate surgery.
