Could a simple scan replace x-rays for Kids' sprained ankles?

NCT ID NCT03507972

Summary

This study tested whether using ultrasound could improve how doctors diagnose ankle injuries in children. Researchers compared ultrasound results to MRI scans (the gold standard) in 97 children aged 5-17 with recent ankle trauma. The goal was to see if ultrasound could provide accurate diagnoses while potentially reducing the need for X-rays and their associated radiation exposure.
