Microscope clues could change how we treat ulcerative colitis

NCT ID NCT07188727

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looked back at 159 people with ulcerative colitis who started a new advanced treatment. Researchers wanted to see if checking tissue samples under a microscope (histology) could predict who would later need stronger treatment, a hospital stay, or surgery. They compared patients with mild vs. moderate inflammation on colonoscopy to see if current treatment decisions should be updated.
