Common drug tested to stop dangerous infections after surgery
NCT ID NCT04192435
Summary
This large international study tested whether a medication called tranexamic acid (TxA), often used to reduce bleeding, could also prevent wound infections after major gastrointestinal surgery. It involved 3,300 adult patients at higher risk for complications, comparing TxA to a placebo. The main goal was to see if the drug helped patients get home sooner by reducing serious infections and other problems.
