Summary
This early-phase study tested whether TUDCA, a bile acid supplement, is safe and can reduce cell stress in the colon of people with active ulcerative colitis. Fourteen adults with mild to moderate disease took TUDCA for 6 weeks. Researchers measured stress markers in colon tissue before and after treatment, and monitored for side effects.
