What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Trimetazidine (an anti-ischemic medication)
What this could lead to
If it works, trimetazidine could become an add-on treatment to improve recovery and reduce disability after an acute ischemic stroke.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed phase 3 trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to all stroke patients. The drug's benefits are uncertain and side effects are possible.
