Dietary oil trial offers hope for rare muscle disorder
NCT ID NCT02919631
Summary
This study tested whether a special dietary oil called triheptanoin could help adults with McArdle disease exercise better. McArdle disease is a rare inherited condition that causes severe muscle cramps, fatigue, and damage during physical activity. In this trial, 12 patients took the oil or a placebo for two weeks each to see if it improved their heart rate during exercise, their overall exercise capacity, and their feelings of fatigue.
