Dietary oil trial offers hope for rare muscle disorder sufferers
NCT ID NCT02919631
Summary
This study tested whether a special dietary oil called triheptanoin could help adults with McArdle disease exercise better. McArdle disease is a rare inherited condition that causes severe muscle pain, cramps, and fatigue during physical activity. Researchers gave 12 participants either the triheptanoin oil or a placebo oil for two weeks, then switched, to see if it improved their cycling performance and reduced feelings of fatigue.
