Summary
This study followed 156 adults who needed a tracheostomy (a tube in the throat) to help them breathe and eventually stop using a breathing machine. Researchers measured how long recovery took, how often patients felt short of breath or uncomfortable, and how this affected their quality of life and mental health later on. The goal was to better understand these patients' experiences to improve care.
