Drug trial offers new hope for severely obese kids
NCT ID NCT02273804
Summary
This study tested whether adding the drug topiramate to standard obesity care helps children and teens with severe obesity lose more weight. For 9 months, participants aged 9-17 either took topiramate or a placebo pill, while everyone received standard lifestyle treatment. The main goal was to see if the drug led to a greater reduction in body mass index (BMI) compared to the placebo.
