Drug trial offers new hope for severely obese kids

NCT ID NCT02273804

Summary

This study tested whether adding the medication Topiramate to standard obesity treatment helps reduce body mass index (BMI) more than standard treatment alone in severely obese children and teens. The 9-month trial compared Topiramate against a placebo in participants aged 9-17. The goal was to see if this already-approved neurological medication could safely help control severe childhood obesity.
