New topical treatment offers hope for rare tongue condition
NCT ID NCT04128722
Summary
This study tested whether applying a sirolimus solution directly to the tongue could help control lymphatic malformations—rare clusters of fluid-filled cysts that cause bleeding, pain, and difficulty speaking or eating. Researchers compared the topical treatment against no treatment in 12 children and adults over 24 weeks. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce symptoms and improve patients' quality of life without requiring oral medications.
