New gel offers hope for rare tongue condition
NCT ID NCT04128722
Summary
This study tested whether applying a sirolimus gel daily could improve tongue lymphatic malformations—rare, fluid-filled growths that can cause bleeding, pain, and trouble speaking or eating. Twelve children and adults with mild-to-moderate cases applied the gel for up to 24 weeks to see if it reduced the severity of their condition compared to no treatment. The goal was to find a safer, topical alternative to oral medications for controlling these difficult lesions.
