Shorter radiation before breast cancer surgery may be just as safe

NCT ID NCT05774678

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 08, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study is for people with breast cancer who need a mastectomy (breast removal) followed by immediate breast reconstruction using their own tissue. It compares two ways of giving radiation before surgery: the standard longer course versus a shorter course with fewer, higher doses. The goal is to see if the shorter schedule is as safe and effective, while also being more convenient. About 126 adults with advanced breast cancer will take part.
