New study aims to help vulnerable canadians kick the smoking habit for good

NCT ID NCT03249428

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study compares two ways to help people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness quit smoking: nicotine mouth spray plus counseling versus a quit-smoking pill plus counseling. Researchers will work with peer helpers who have lived experience to make the program welcoming and non-judgmental. The goal is to improve quality of life and reduce the huge health gap that causes early death in this community.
