Zapping the brain to fight arthritis pain: new trial launched

NCT ID NCT07403890

First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) can reduce chronic pain in people with psoriatic arthritis who still hurt even when their joint inflammation is under control. Researchers will give 40 adults either real or placebo stimulation over 4 weeks and measure changes in pain and immune cell activity. The goal is to see if targeting a specific brain region can rewire the connection between the brain and the immune system to provide lasting pain relief.
