New needle technique eases jaw pain in small study

Summary

This study tested two methods of washing out the jaw joint (arthrocentesis) in 30 adults with painful, stiff jaws from TMJ disorder. One method used a single needle, the other used a small tube (catheter) to help flush the joint. The goal was to see which approach better reduced pain and improved mouth opening. The study is complete, but results are not yet shared.
