NCT ID NCT06794853

First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at why a procedure called TIPS, which helps lower blood pressure in the liver, may also improve muscle loss (sarcopenia) in people with advanced liver disease. Researchers will measure a protein called FGF21 and muscle mass in 132 adults with cirrhosis before and after TIPS. The goal is to understand the connection so doctors can better treat muscle wasting.
