Sticky patch could spot fevers in tots faster than thermometers

NCT ID NCT07145541

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested a small wearable patch called TempShield that sticks to the chest and continuously checks body temperature in children ages 1 to 4 in the emergency room. The goal was to see if it could detect fevers earlier than standard thermometers. 72 children took part, and the patch was worn for up to 7 hours. The study aimed to improve care by catching fevers sooner, but it was a small, early-stage test to see how well the device works.
