New pacing method may offer Drug-Free heart rate control for AF patients

NCT ID NCT07247422

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests a temporary pacing technique to slow the heart rate in people with atrial fibrillation (AF) who cannot take standard medications. The approach uses high-frequency pacing in a heart vein to calm the electrical signals. If successful, it could provide a safer, reversible alternative to permanent pacemakers or ablation. About 33 adults with fast AF will be enrolled and followed for one month.
