Remote ventilator check keeps COPD patients out of hospital

NCT ID NCT05287555

First seen Dec 12, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at whether monitoring COPD patients' home ventilators from a distance can improve how well they use the machine and reduce hospital visits. 54 adults who needed a ventilator at home were split into two groups: one received standard in-person checkups every six months, while the other had their ventilator data sent to a care team who could step in early if problems arose. The goal was to see if this remote care approach leads to better treatment adherence and fewer hospital stays.
