Inclusion Criteria: * Children age extending from 7 - 9 years * bilaterally caries-prone, sound lower first permanent molars Exclusion Criteria: * Teeth with initial carious lesions or cavitated lesions * children parents or legal guardians were unable to provide informed consent.
