Can acupressure beat Post-Surgery sickness? new trial tests combo approach

NCT ID NCT07480785

First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a gentle electrical stimulation to acupuncture points (TEAS) to a standard three-drug anti-nausea regimen can further reduce nausea and vomiting after surgery. Researchers will compare active TEAS to a sham (fake) version in 780 high-risk women undergoing laparoscopic surgery for uterine fibroids, ovarian tumors, or gallstones. The goal is to see if the combination offers better symptom control than drugs alone.
