This study tested whether a gentle electrical stimulation at specific acupoints (Neiguan and Shenmen) could lower the risk of postoperative delirium—a state of confusion—in 226 older adults having abdominal surgery. Researchers also monitored brain wave patterns to understand how the treatment might work. The goal is to find a simple, drug-free way to protect brain function after surgery.
