Brain zapping for weight loss: shocking new study tests TDCS

NCT ID NCT00739362

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study tests whether a mild electrical current applied to the scalp (TDCS) can reduce food intake and help with weight loss. About 148 obese adults will receive either real or fake TDCS sessions over 4 weeks, combined with a reduced-calorie diet. The goal is to see if stimulating a brain area linked to fullness can make it easier to eat less and shed pounds.
