Zapping the brain to unlock lost words after stroke

NCT ID NCT05570578

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tested a gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation technique called HD-tDCS in 14 people who had a stroke at least a year ago and still have trouble finding words (aphasia). Participants received stimulation over a language area while practicing naming actions. The goal was to see if this could improve word-finding and strengthen connections between brain regions involved in language.
