Zapping the brain to unlock lost words: a new hope for stroke survivors?

NCT ID NCT05570578

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation technique called tDCS in 14 people who had a stroke at least a year ago and still have trouble finding words (aphasia). The goal was to see if stimulating a key language area could improve their ability to name pictures and strengthen connections between brain regions involved in language. The approach combined brain stimulation with a word-learning task.
