Could a repurposed scan improve detection of heart sarcoidosis?
NCT ID NCT07159074
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study explores whether a radioactive tracer called Tc 99m tilmanocept, already used for other conditions, can help identify cardiac sarcoidosis—a disease where immune cells form clumps in the heart. Researchers will compare this new imaging method to standard PET and MRI scans in 15 adults with confirmed sarcoidosis. If successful, it could offer a more accessible way to diagnose heart involvement without invasive procedures.
