Blood test could replace unnecessary CT scans for mild head injuries

NCT ID NCT07373509

First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a quick blood test can help emergency room doctors better decide which patients with mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) actually need a CT scan. Researchers will track how often patients with a normal blood test result still get a CT scan, and identify barriers to using the test in practice. The goal is to reduce unnecessary scans, save time, and improve care for the 340 adults with mild head injuries who will participate.
