Brain scans reveal hidden protein clues in dementia

NCT ID NCT03143374

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study uses a special brain scan called PET to measure a protein called tau, which builds up in people with brain cell damage. Researchers want to see how tau buildup relates to memory, thinking, and brain changes over time. About 300 adults with conditions like Alzheimer's, frontotemporal dementia, or Parkinson's will take part. The goal is to better understand these diseases, not to test a treatment.
