New imaging technique could reduce harsh side effects of throat cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT07241273

Summary

This study is testing whether a special imaging scan called SPECT-CT can help doctors decide whether throat cancer patients need radiation treatment on one side or both sides of their neck. Currently, most patients receive radiation to both sides, which causes more side effects and lowers quality of life. The trial will compare the new imaging-guided approach to standard treatment in 128 patients to see if it maintains cancer control while reducing side effects.
