Nerve block may speed gut recovery after Weight-Loss surgery
NCT ID NCT07168538
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a TAP block—a type of nerve block given during surgery—can help the stomach and intestines work better after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (weight-loss surgery). About 60 adults having this surgery will either get the block or not, and their recovery will be tracked using a symptom questionnaire and an ultrasound to check stomach emptying. The goal is to see if the block reduces nausea, bloating, and other gut issues after surgery.
