AI-Powered telechecklist could spot appendicitis in kids without In-Person exam

NCT ID NCT07479849

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 04, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests a simple 10-item checklist that parents can use during a video call to help doctors figure out if a child's belly pain is appendicitis. About 1,500 children aged 3 to 16 with stomach pain will try the checklist with a medical student, then get standard care. The goal is to see if the checklist is as accurate as an in-person exam, which could make telemedicine more useful for emergencies.
