Tabata workout may fight inflammation differently in smokers
NCT ID NCT07412639
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at how a short, intense workout called Tabata affects certain inflammation-related substances in the blood. Researchers compared 40 smokers and non-smokers to see if exercise changes these markers differently. The goal was to better understand how smoking and exercise interact in the body.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Tabata exercise (a short, high-intensity interval workout)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help explain how exercise reduces inflammation differently in smokers and non-smokers, possibly guiding future health advice.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 40 participants. It measures biomarkers, not health outcomes, so real-world benefits are uncertain.
